Hello From The ICMA Annual Conference
I’m excited, as always, to be attending the International City and County Management Association (ICMA) Annual Conference, this year in Long Beach, California. THIS is the preeminent annual brain factory where innovative ideas are shared, concepts are advanced, and networking and collaboration reign supreme. And most importantly, where new and valued friendships are easily made. All in the name of public service and an unwavering commitment to making our communities better places to live, work, and play. My peers and I universally agree on two things: the work is hard, and we love it anyway. Because it is and always will be about the satisfaction that comes from putting others before ourselves.
I had the privilege of listening to a keynote address yesterday from nationally renowned organizational and leadership coach Simon Sinek, and today’s keynote is with Pulitzer Prize–winning historian and author Jon Meacham. This, on top of dozens of informational sessions and fruitful handshakes throughout the 4+ days. I love this profession!!!
